On Monday December 21, 2009 the Livingston Town Counsel awarded the contract for the construction of the Livingston Skate Park to the American Ramp Company. In the coming weeks we will be having a rules meeting where we will begin to set the policies of the skate park. Construction of the skate park will begin as soon as all of the paperwork is finished and the weather breaks in the spring. We look forward to having a state of the art skate park that will sure to be a favorite of our skateboarders in the community.

Bid for Livingston Municipal Skate Park Begins
The Livingston Skate Park Committee under the auspices of the Healthy Community-Healthy Youth Initiative (HCHY) is pleased to announce that the Mayor and Council of the Township of Livingston has put the final design and engineered plans for the Livingston Municipal Skate Park out to bid (Bid No. 032-2009). Bids are to be received no later than 11:00am on September 10th at which time they will be opened and read aloud in conference room 115 at 204 Hillside Avenue.
The future home of the skate park/plaza will be the site between the Police Department and the West Essex YMCA. Upon accepted bid the Township should be able to award the construction contract by the end of September. For more information about this contracting opportunity visit the Livingston website and click on purchasing www.livingstonnj.org/purchasing.
The Livingston Municipal Skate Park is the culmination of a planning partnership with Township skaters, HCHY and the Township of Livingston. “This park is for the enjoyment and most importantly, the safety of our children” said Alan Karpas, Co-Chairperson of the Skate Park Committee, “and it’s exciting that all the work of the last few years is coming to fruition.”

Street Sign Auction Update
We are in our third full day of the auction and things are heating up. Nearly a third of all the signs have bids on them. We have had messages from all over the world including the UK, Hawaii, California, Colorado, Georgia, South Carolina and the list goes on. Everyone wants a Livingston NJ street sign.
As we have stated before. Unfortunately we do not have a street sign for every street. Don’t be disappointed if we don’t have your street available. Try bidding on one of the North or South Livingston Ave signs. How about Mount Pleasant Ave? There are lots of really great street signs for the bidding.
Don’t forget the auction ends on Monday December 15 at exactly 8:00 PM eastern. Check back here starting at 6:00 PM on Monday evening for the count down to the end of the auction LIVE from the Senior Community Center. We will be doing a live video podcast keeping everyone up to date on the auction.
